India: Business Expansion Sika Establishes New Manufacturing Plant, Technology Center for Adhesives, Sealants
Sika has gone ahead with its plan to expand its adhesives and sealants production in India by opening a new manufacturing plant and technology center in Pune. The move has been undertaken in the background of the growing demand from the automotive, construction and renewable energy segments.
Baar/Switzerland – Sika is launching a new technology center and manufacturing plant for high-quality adhesives and sealants in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Developments at the new R&D laboratories and the production in the new plant are aimed at meeting the rapidly growing demand in the Indian market. On its three new production lines, Sika mainly manufactures products for the transportation, construction, and renewable energy sectors.
Vehicle manufacturers and automotive suppliers in particular have settled in Pune. The new Sika site at one of the region’s key logistics hubs is ideally located in terms of transportation infrastructure, ensuring rapid and reliable deliveries to customers. Morten Muschak, Corporate Target Market Manager Industry mentions that customer-specific solutions can be developed, produced, and delivered within a very short period of time at the site.
Both the building industry and the automotive sector in India are benefiting from dynamic economic growth and ongoing urbanization as well as from favorable government investment policies. India is now the world’s fifth biggest market for cars. The construction industry is expected to grow by an average of 6.5 % per annum from now until 2030. Annual growth in the automotive sector in the same period should exceed 10 %.
