Power Engineering Siemens Builds Power Engineering Test Laboratory in India

Siemens builds a new 765kV test laboratory for high power experiments at Bina, India, for Power Grid Corporate. The facility, the first of its kind in the country, will be build on a turnkey basis for Rs. 14.6 billion (around US $ 27 million), company speakers stated.

Bina/India – Siemens will be extending to this project some of its highly advanced technologies including 765kV Make Switch, Control and Monitoring System (CMS), and associated substations for 765kV and 400kV, among others. Siemens has also been contracted for the annual maintenance of this test laboratory for five years. The project has been rolled out with immediate effect and is expected to be commissioned in 14 months - by mid of calendar year 2013.

World Class High Power Laboratory for India

On winning this coveted contract, A. K. Dixit, CEO – Energy Sector, Siemens said, “The project is significant for it will provide access to world-class testing facilities locally and will put India on the world stage as an important destination for testing of 765kV transformers.”
