According to recent figures by Roland Berger, especially the chemical industry could profit from energy saving programmes: With investments of ten billion Euro, savings of € 42 billion could be generated until 2050 for the basic chemical industry, the market analysts expect. Also other branches like the milling and processing of earth, rocks and minerals (investments of one billion Euro for six billion savings) or pulp and paper (roughly seven billion Euro investments for savings of € 34 billion) could profit from energy efficiency programmes.

In total, investment costs of around 23 billion could generate savings of around 102 billion Euro within the next 38 years, the consultants of Roland Berger believe. Most of the investment should be used for energy efficient machinery or measures to increase process efficiency. Also industry association like the electrical engineering association ZVEI agree: "Energy efficiency does not only benefit the global climate protection efforts, but also the industry's wallet," ZVEI vice–president Michael Ziesemer states.
