Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia – The facility shall be built at the new US $ 18.8 billion Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) complex in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia. The production will employ Versalis' technology to produce a variety of rubbers for the Asian markets.

The proposed RAPID complex is a planned green-field downstream plant with a refining capacity of 300,000 barrels per day. Apart from producing petroleum products like gasoline and diesel according to the Euro 4 and Euro 5 fuel specifications, the complex will include a variety of petrochemical production assets. Corresponding agreements have already been signed with BASF, ITOCHU, and PTT Global Chemical Public Company for various downstream chemicals.
