Offshore Oil Petrobras Offshore Drillings Confirm Quality Oil in Pre–Salt of Santos Basin, Brazil

Extension drillings of the coast of Brazil have confirmed the presence of good quality oil in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin reservoirs. Results obtained confirm the presence of light oil in the Carioca region, which had already been confirmed by other wells, company speakers added.

Rio de Janeiro/Brazil – The new well reached total depth of 5,576 meters. It is located in block BM-S-9 of assessment area 1-BRSA-491-SPS, at a water depth of 2,152 meters, and 275 km off the coast of São Paulo.

3-BRSA-1101-SPS is the fourth well drilled in the Carioca region, 6.5 km from the discovery well, between the Carioca and Carioca Nordeste areas. The fluid samples collected through tests show that the oil is similar to the one found in other wells of the area.
