Grassroots Hydrogen Plant New Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide Project in Texas Underway
Gas specialist Air Products plans a new grassroots hydrogen plant in Baytown, Texas, which shall produce up to 3.5 million cubic meters per day of both hydrogen and carbon monoxide (CO).

Houston, Texas/USA – The American has selected Technip to provide technology, engineering and procurement services for the new 3.5 million cubic meters plant which will supply customers via Air Products’ Gulf Coast Pipeline Networks. The facility will be built through the global hydrogen alliance between Air Products and Technip.
It will feature Technip’s proprietary steam methane reforming (SMR) technology to produce high purity hydrogen, carbon monoxide and export steam. Technip’s operating center in Claremont, California, USA, will execute the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2018.
