Dr. Thomas Steckenreiter is to become the new divisional head of Operation Support & Safety at Bayer Technology Services (BTS). Steckenreiter, currently Director of Marketing at Endress+Hauser Conducta, is transferring to BTS on July 1, 2013 and will be the successor of Dr. Norbert Kuschnerus, who retires after almost 30 years at Bayer.

Leverkusen – „Dr. Steckenreiter has solid experience in the fields of process safety and process analysis technology. He possesses special qualities that are key to the focused expansion of our portfolio and thus of our future business,“ said BTS Managing Director Dr. Dirk Van Meirvenne.

He thanked Kuschnerus for his very successful work, which played a major role in shaping the global reputation of BTS. Among the things that Kuschnerus implemented during his tenure at BTS was the concept of operational excellence – the holistic optimization of plant availability, energy and raw material use and process safety. New intelligent online process analytics methods and automation platforms were also developed under his leadership. He established new process standards for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and partnered with renowned research institutions and universities throughout the world. For 10 years he headed Namur, the association of users of automation technology in the process industry, and is also co-publisher of the trade journal "atp-Automatisierungstechnische Praxis."

Steckenreiter was born in Offenbach am Main, Germany, in 1965, and studied chemistry at the Technical University of Darmstadt, where he also obtained his doctorate and served as assistant lecturer. After submitting his dissertation in 1997, he started his career as product manager at Mettler Toledo, before joining Endress+Hauser in 2001, holding various positions with global responsibility. The focus of his work was on process analysis technology.
