Mainstream Pine Products has selected Neste Engineering Solutions’ Nexpinus Tall Oil Fractionation technology for its new 90-million-dollar biorefinery in South Carolina, USA. The unit is expected to process 100,000 metric tons of crude tall oil for a wide range of industrial applications.
The facility based on the Nexpinus-technology, will serve as the centerpiece of Mainstream’s strategy to become the highest quality, lowest cost producer of CTO derivatives in North America.

Finland – Neste Engineering Solutions and Mainstream Pine Products have entered into a Nexpinus technology licensing agreement for a greenfield CTO fractionation facility to be built in Charleston International Manufacturing Center, South Carolina, USA. In addition to licensing of technology, Neste Engineering Solutions will also provide professional support services to the project execution which will be performed by main contractor Pegasus TSI. The project targets to reach mechanical completion and start-up in 2023.

Neste Engineering Solutions' proprietary Nexpinus technology can be tailored to handle a wide range of CTO feedstock and is developed to produce high-quality tall oil products at maximized yields and low energy consumption.
