Standards for the Processing Industry Namur Publishes Recommendations for Information Exchange and Resource Efficiency Indicators
The Namur recommendations NE 159 and NE 162 have been published. NE 159 covers requirements for data models for the exchange of information between CAE systems of Process Design and E&I-Engineering. NE 162 describes "Resource Efficiency Indicators for monitoring and improving resource efficiency in processing plants".

The recommendations and Worksheets explain procedures, provide support material like check lists and define requirements relating to equipment and systems. The recently published NE 159 describes requirements for data models for the exchange of information between CAE systems of Process Design and E&I-Engineering. It forms the basis for an automatic, iterative and bidirectional data exchange between these systems.
This recommendation (NE) makes a contribution to simplifying data exchange by standardizing a model for the process design data of process control elements. Based on this model, CAE system manufacturers can develop interfaces for their systems that greatly simplify data exchange when integrated into the planning process.
The purpose of recommendation NE 162 is to provide guidelines using Resource Efficiency Indicators (REIs) that specify standardized energy and material use as well as the environmental impact of production within a specified technical system boundary and especially for operational (not only retrospective) use. The recommendation allows solution providers to develop methods to implement and to visualize Resource Efficiency Indicators (REIs) beneficial to the operation of plants in the processing industry, chemical and biochemical industry and integrated production sites. It provides different aspects of the implementation in plants according to the specific REI.
