Two coils in a single device provide Bürkerts new Twin Power magnetic actuators with a considerable higher power density compared two common single-coil setups. This allows a compact, medium sized design: the units measures only only 10 x 20 x 44 mm - a size reduction of about 54 percent compared to Bürkerts older single coils actuators with similar performance characteristics.

According to Bürkert, the new design also has a significantly reduced energy consumption. The company claims that adding a new standard hit-and-hold electronics helped to cut the unit's energy consumption by 75 percent 100ms after switching on. Since most of this energy would otherwise be emitted as heat into the medium, the new actuators could also help maintaining a higher medium quality, says Bürkert.

Due to their small sizes and media-separation the new actuators are suited for applications in areas of life-science, clinical diagnostics, medical technology, and environmental analysis.
