Unfortunately, many of their active ingredients are temperature-sensitive. If the temperature during transport ranges outside certain limits, the drugs may lose their effectiveness or even become harmful. Schreiner MediPharm’s improved e-temp monitoring system is a low-cost yet effective way for the pharmaceutical industry to record the temperature history of shipments. Temperatures are recorded by electronic e-temp labels attached to the product. When the shipment arrives, the data is read with an RFID device (radio tag reader) and analyzed using software that meets 21 CFR Part 11 and other pharmaceutical industry requirements. The new e-temp system has already proven its viability in field pilot tests.
