Editorial PROCESS WORLDWIDE 1/2013 Join the Discussion
Social networks such as Linkedin, Facebook or Google+ have taken a fixed place in many people’s life. They provide a number of tools to keep in contact with family members, friends, professional groups and business partners and even strengthen a relation independent of the geographical distance.
Possibly the greatest advantage of these social networks, however, is their ability to extend one’s reach and make new contacts with people of similar interests in one of the many specialised groups. To provide a viable alternative for the community of process and chemical engineering professionals, we have set up dedicated groups on all major social network services: Linkedin, Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.
I cordially invite you to join one of these groups -- depending on which network you prefer -- and make use of the concentrated expertise available there. To join, just click on one of the network buttons at the top of the page, this will take you to the respective group. And while you are there, please give us your opinion on the article “Talking about a Revolution”. Let us know your view about America’s new bonanza, how the shale gas “revolution” in the USA turns the process chemical market upside down. Do you believe in this exploration technology considering the environmental impact? How does shale gas change the chemical engineering world? I’m eagerly looking forward to your comments.
Of course, social networks are just one way to make new contacts and collect new information. For certain problems, visiting conferences may be a more suitable approach. This year PROCESS holds four conferences worldwide on different engineering topics such as 5th Pharmaceutical Engineering Forum in Beijing/China (May 12-13), 3rd Digital Plant Conference in Wuerzburg/Germany (October 9-10), 4th Powder and Bulk Solids Handling Conference in Mumbai/India (October 9-11) as well as the newly structured Förderprozess-Foren in Wuerzburg/Germany (November 12-13). Please feel free to contact me, if you like to attend or get more information about one of these events. All relevant information and discussions will be posted to our website and social media groups as well.
