Water Treatment Japanese Companies form Joint Venture for Ceramic Based Water Treatment

Japanese engineering specialists Inpex, Chiyoda and Metawater join forces to promote the first use of a ceramic membrane based water treatment in the oil industry: Together, the three companies have proposed a corresponding plan for a small scale demonstrtation plant to Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (Jogmec).

Tokyo/Japan – The 150.000 liters/day plant shall demonstrate the usability of Metawater's ceramic membrane technology in an industrial environment. The work will take place at the Yabase Oil Field in Akita Prefecture, operated by Inpex.

The three partners expect, that the successful demonstration of ceramic membrane-based produced water treatment technology will contribute to economic improvement in oil field production, extension of oil field lifespans and reduction in environmental impact. The effluent water shall conform to the local Japanese river discharge standards.
