Indonesia: Refinery Project Indonesian Government Issues Contracts for Bontang Refinery

The Indonesian government has entrusted the country’s National Energy Company Pertamina to build and operate a new 300,000 barrels-per-day refinery at Bontang.

Djakarta/Indonesia – Pertamina has already confirmed to look for a possible partner for the engineering project, so that construction could start in 2019. The new refinery will be build next to an existing LNG-plant, operated by Badak NGL, a subsidiary of Pertamina.

With a nameplate capacity of 300,000 barrels-per-day, the site shall speed up the development of Indonesia’s East Kalimantan province, officials said.
