Powder & Bulk Solids Indian Powder and Bulk Industry Meets in Ahmedabad

The annual Powder & Bulk Solids India fair and conference kicked off with a first day full of highlights. For the first time with a new concept for the next annual Powder & Bulk Solids exhibition/conference at Ahmedabad, India, the organizers try to expand the events scope for new target audiences.

Powder & Bulk Solids India Conference and Exhibition successfully kicked off at 10.30 am local time in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. This event marks the start of three days of bustling activities started at Powder & Bulk Solids India Conference and Exhibitions.

The opening ceremony started with the traditional “Lighting of the Lamps” and words of Welcome by Gerd Kielburger, Vogel Business Media and publisher of PROCESS Worldwide, Germany, and Petra Wolf of Nürnberg Messe, Germany.

This event is the first to include a new topical concept that brings together specialists from both bulk and powder industries in Ahmedabad, the organisers explained (see also our interview "A New Concept for 2012")

In a first keynote presentation, the pneumatic conveying specialist Dr. David Mills gave a lecture on the development of powder and bulk handling in India.

Awards Recognise the Development of the Indian Powder and Bulk Industries

The event also recognises the rapid development of the Indian industry with the presentation of five prestigious awards: Mr. Rohit Gupta of Macawber Beekay received the Green Technology Award for his company's achievements in the pneumatic conveying of fly ash.

The Milestone Project Award, which recognises important big projects, was presented to Pabak Mukhopadhyay for his work on a 17 kilometre haulway for limestone between India and Bangladesh. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Prof. em. Pitchumani, for more than 30 years of research and education activity in powder processing and particle technology.

Important developments were awarded with the Technology Innovation Award, which went to Aerzener Maschinenfabrik for development of energy efficient Delta Hybrid compressor system this year. Newcomer Vega India received the Young Indian Company Award: Founded in December 2 011, company took up work in January 2012.
