Bio Fuels Ethanol Indian Engineering For South American Bio Fuels

Indian process engineering and bio fuels specialists Praj have been chosen to supply a ethanol production plant on the Columbian Llanos grasslands.

Pune/India – Under a US $ 22 million contract, Praj Industries supplies a process plant for ethanol production including the concentration of vinasse for fertilizer productions for Spanish Isolux Corsan and Colombian Bioenergy. Bioenergy, majority shares of which are owned by Colombia's public EcoPetrol, plans to establish a 480m3 sugar to ethanol production for biofuels on the remote Llanos plains in eastern Colombia.

On this occasion, Pramod Chaudhari, Executive Chairman, Praj Industries Limited, said, "This is our biggest order in this region so far. We have successfully commissioned 5 Greenfield plants in Colombia over a decade. This will be our sixth plant. It is indeed a prestigious order for Praj from the Latin American region."

The facility will employ Praj's technology that permits the use of low pressure vapors from the juice evaporation, enabling substantial saving of both water and energy. The order fwas booked for the second quarter of 2011.
