Kirloskar Brothers (KBL), a leading global fluid management company was recently awarded at the ASSOCHAM’s 3rd Innovation Excellence Awards 2014. The company’s all-women Coimbatore Plant won the prestigious ‘Gold Award’ for its advancement in the area of Science and Technology.
Pune/India - Dr. RV. Raj Kuumar, Divisional Head- Coimbatore plant, KBL, received the coveted award from Lt. Gen. Anil Chait, Ministry of Defence at the national ASSOCHAM India summit in Delhi. For the second time in a row, KBL’s Coimbatore plant has been felicitated by ASSOCHAM, one of the most reputed industrial associations. Last year, Kirloskar Brothers was recognized with the Platinum Award in the Social Development & Business Development Category for Women Empowerment.
KBL is the only engineering company in India which operates with 100 per cent female associates in the manufacturing process. The ASSOCHAM Award is recognition to the efforts made by KBL’s all women Coimbatore plant that was established in 2011. The plant which is equipped with state of the art facility manufactures different models of domestic pumps and has 70 women between the age group of 19 to 30 employed on the shop floor. KBL provides an intense 2 months industrial training to the women recruited at the plant who are mostly school drop outs.
