New Delhi/India – “Our main focus should be on creating a safe work environment in the Oil and Gas industry and an incident and injury-free work environment in the entire oil & gas industry in India,” explained Dr Veerappa Moilyand, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, at the ceremony. The ministry had constituted the Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD) in 1986 to encourage a safe working culture in oil and gas operations.

Moilyand added that the country's oil industry has been making significant contributions to India's development by ensuring supply of energy at affordable prices to every nook and corner of this vast country on round the clock basis.

The list of award winners reads like the country's 'Who is Who' in oil and gas: HPCL, BPCL, GAIL and Essar Oil were able to win several of the coveted awards for their operations in 2012 and 2011.
