Tablet Production How to make Tablet Produktion efficient
Efficient tablet production is not only a question of technology— the support has to be right too — from production planning to plant modernisation. Modern equipment manufacturers are gearing up for this.
The efficiency pressure on pharma companies has increased again, as a 2013 study among the 20 largest firms in the world by the consultancy firm Ernst & Young confirms. Pharma companies must therefore become yet more efficient and manage their value creation chains globally.
“In the field of tablet production, the biggest successes happen when pharma companies and machine manufacturers work in tightly meshed cooperation,” explains Dr. Matthias Klatt, Director of EMEA Customer Support at Fette Compacting. He defines his task area, customer support, as the central link in enabling this kind of cooperation across national and company borders.
With a network of five competence centres in Germany, USA, Brasil, India and China, Fette Compacting has established a worldwide service structure. Here the support is already active before a machine goes into operation. The question, of how cost-conscious and efficient the production will be is already being considered at that stage regarding the desired characteristics of the tablet as well as the customer’s planned turnover.
It is possible to work out precisely which tablet press is most suitable based on the tablet form and the planned production quantity. With 15 different machine types, Fette Compacting has developed a broad portfolio – Which of the machines is optimally matched to the requirements in each case can be narrowed down relatively quickly.
It becomes more complicated when questions on details of the mould form, press tools and process equipment are included. Every fine adjustment here can have a great effect on production. By this point, at the latest, advice from the machine manufacturer is recommended.
