New versions of the Challenger data-entry terminal offer a high-definition touchscreen in a sleek new design, says the GECMA division of MTL Instruments. The Challenger 22 with its 22-in. display will be available from 2nd quarter of this year, and a hazardous-area version, the Challenger 22i, will appear in 3rd quarter. Planned future products include a 24-in. model with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the company says. Like the existing Challenger range, the new terminals have a modular architecture which allows customers to choose the display, keyboard, mouse and other peripherals that best suit their application. Each peripheral device is certified as a panel-mount module for use in industrial or hazardous areas. The Challenger 22i prototype also features an anti-glare display, a touchscreen designed for gloved hands, adjustable height and angle, and a new space-saving design.
