For the first time ever, GIG Karasek built a cold trap with a glass center piece and stainless steel connection parts (for process connections) into a short path distillation plant for optical control of operation, and to optimize the process parameters.

The flow direction is from bottom to top so that on the one hand liquid entrainment into the vacuum line is reduced to a minimum and on the other hand, the icing of the cooling coil towards the vacuum connection takes place only by the end of the service life. Thus, the optimum de-icing interval can be safely detected and preset.The cold trap has an exchange area of ​​approximately 1 sqm and the design was described by the customers as extremely user-friendly and "transparent".
