London/United Kingdom – The plattform, located on the Solan field 160 kilometers off the coast Scotland, could become a model for future oil production in marginal fields. It is expected to produce approximately 40 million barrels of oil, with an estimated initial production rate of 24,000 barrels a day by the end of 2014.
Emerson will provide project management services, system design and technology as the plants main automation and electrical contractor, speakers stated. The integrated solution will be based on Emerson’s Plant Web digital plant architecture, including its Delta V digital automation system and predictive maintenance software. Other elements will include measurement technology, sensors and transmitters as well as control and surveillance technology. Emerson will also provide electrical switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies, and satellite telecommunication equipment, as well as an operator training solution that simulates real-world situations to prepare operations personnel for incident management.
