Polybutene Expansion Daelim Plans to Extend Lead in Polybutene with Plant Expansion

Daelim's plans to become the premier manufacturer of polybutene take the next step: The company's Petrochemical Business Division has announced the expansion of its highly reactive polybutene plant in the Yeosu National Industrial Complex.

Seoul/South Korea – Production capacity shall be boosted by 35.000 tons/year to a total of 100,000 tons by November 2016 with an US $ 68 million invest. After the expansion, Daelim will be able to produce a total of 185,000 tons of polybutene annually by including the polybutene plant’s annual production output of 85,000 tons of general-purpose polybutene.

With such ambitious expansion projects, the Koreans expect to position themselves as the top polybutene manufacturers in terms of world market share, widening the gap on Germany’s BASF (annual output: 140,000 tons).
