Refinery Modernisation Colombian Refinery Modernisation Projects Enters Second Phase

Foster Wheeler, Swiss based engineering specialists, announced a refinery modernisation project in Colombia supervised by the company, just enter the second stage. The facilities of Colombian Ecopetrol will be retrofitted with heavy crude processing capabilities, making use of the countries supply in heavy crudes.

Bogota/Colombia – An ongoing refinery modernisation by Foster Wheeler in Barrancabermeja, Columbia just reached the second stage: the Swiss engineering experts' Global Engineering and Construction Group was assigned to perform project management consultancy (PMC) and front end engineering design (FEED), detailed engineering for the crude unit revamps and assisting assistant services for the facility operator Ecopetrol. These revamp works will provide heavy crude processing capabilities for the refinery, taking advantage of the available domestic heavy sour crudes, and provide a processing configuration to meet the Colombian clean fuels product specifications. The exact contract value remained undisclosed.
