Chinaplas 2014 Chinese Plastics Exhibition Touts Record Number of Visitors

The show’s growth underlines its rising importance for Asia's plastic industry: The number of attendees at April’s Chinaplas fair in Shanghai jumped more than 14% to a new record of over 130,000, according to organiser Adsale Exhibitions. .

Shanghai/PR China – The total number of visitors at Asia's largest plastics and rubber fair compared with 218,000 at the K 2013 in Dusseldorf, Germany, and some 55,000 at US exhibition NPE 2012 in Orlando, Florida.

The organiser said Chinaplas, which is in its 28th year, is becoming more international. The number of foreign visitors soared nearly 20% to 36,841, or 28% of total visitors. They came from 143 countries and regions, with most travelling from Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Russia, the host said. The number of domestic visitors grew 12% to almost 94,000.

The internationality of the fair has made it a top plastics industry event, according to Philip Law, director general designate of the British Plastics Federation.“The British group reported brisk business throughout the show. Around fifty percent of the visitors to the BPF stand were from outside China.”

He added that a large number of visitors came from Africa, the Middle East, India and Australia.
