China to Herald the Age of the Plus-50GWh Power Battery

“The First China Power Battery and Energy Storage Conference 2018" with the theme new energy conversion and high quality development was held in Taizhou, Jiangsu province. This conference is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and the Information Technology Institute, CCID Group and Taizhou People's Government.

Taizhou/PR China – Relevant government department heads, deputy secretary general Mr. Ye Shengji from China's Auto Industry Association, Mr. Yang Yusheng from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Nan Cewen from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other experts along with leaders from the Ministry of Industry and the Information Technology CCID Institute and Taizhou People's Government attended the conference.

Professionals of new energy vehicles and the power battery industry association, as well as representatives of enterprises and institutions of the industry had in-depth discussions about the current domestic power battery development. Other topics included the existing problems and future trends, battery safety and the industrial dilemma to contribute to the development of blueprint for the domestic power battery industry.

Period of Growth

With China's new energy automobile industry entering the fast lane, the power battery industry, as the core component of new energy automobile, has also ushered in a period of rapid development. According to statistics, the production and sales of China's new energy vehicles exceeded expectations in 2017, with 794,000 and 777,000 vehicles respectively, which means an increase of 53.8% and 53.3% year on year respectively. According to the data and expert forecasts, the total installed power of China's power battery in 2017 will be about 36GWh, increasing by more than 20%, and it is expected to exceed 50GWh in 2018.

Turning Point for the Industry

At present, the new energy automobile industry is at a crucial turning point in its development. The implementation of the "double points" policy is a great opportunity for the power battery industry. With the expansion of battery capacity, China's new products for the automotive industry are becoming increasingly diverse, which will undoubtedly lead to a new round of industrial restructuring.
