Pipes CB&I Provides Infrastructure for Dow Petrochemical Projects in the States

Dow plans major petrochemical investments in Texas and Louisiana for which it has chosen CB&I to supply piping systems for. The chemical giant's plans include the construction of a new propylene and ethylene production unit in Texas and four new polyethylene plants in Texas and Louisiana.

The Woodlands, Texas/USA – "CB&I's strategically-located fabrication facilities, production management systems and manufacturing technology give us the unique capability to provide complete piping solutions for major energy infrastructure projects," said Luke Scorsone, President of CB&I's Fabrication Services operating group. "This distinct expertise offers our customers greater quality, efficiency and schedule reliability, and in turn, we help our customers get their products to market faster."

Dow's investment plans include a world-scale 1.5 million tons per year ethylene plant at Freeport, Texas, as well as a 225 km ethane, ethylene, propane and propylene pipeline system with associated infrastructure.Feedstock for this project shall come from the shale gas reserves in the Marcellus and Eagle Ford regions. Furthermore, the company plans to build a 750,000 tons/year single-train propane dehydrogenation plant, the largest of its kind in North America, at the same site.
