Dow plans major petrochemical investments in Texas and Louisiana for which it has chosen CB&I to supply piping systems for. The chemical giant's plans include the construction of a new propylene and ethylene production unit in Texas and four new polyethylene plants in Texas and Louisiana.

Dow's investment plans include a world-scale 1.5 million tons per year ethylene plant at Freeport, Texas, as well as a 225 km ethane, ethylene, propane and propylene pipeline system with associated infrastructure.Feedstock for this project shall come from the shale gas reserves in the Marcellus and Eagle Ford regions. Furthermore, the company plans to build a 750,000 tons/year single-train propane dehydrogenation plant, the largest of its kind in North America, at the same site.
