Kingsport, Tennesse/USA; Tallin/Estonia – Eastman announced plans to expand its plasticizer production site in Kohtla-Järve, Estonia. The expansion shall increase the production capacity for Benzoflex, a plasticizer of Eastman, by another 11,000 tons/year. Eastman schedules the expansions to be completed mid 2012.

Further additional capacities are planned at EastmanÄs facilities in Chestertown, Maryland and Kingsport, Tennessee. These planned capacity expansions at North American sites are estimated to a total of 9,000 additional tons of plasticizers per year.

“These expansions reflect the continuing growth in demand for alternatives to traditional phthalate products,” said Heidi Barnes, Oxo and plasticizer business director. “The additional capacity will allow our Performance Chemicals and Intermediates segment to satisfy increasing customer demand for non-phthalate plasticizers.”
