Process Software Business Process Management Software Still Has Long Way to Go

Software solutions for the process industry are currently facing steady growth and application among the whole production chain. But the software manufacturers still have a long way to go: A recent study shows that most companies are not or only partially satisfied with recent business process management (BPM) software.

A study among the German industry revealed a broad discontent among industrial users of BPM software solutions: 34 percent of the questioned companies are discontented with their BPM software, while further 48 percent are only partially satisfied. Most of this discontented users (71 percent) are currently considering to change their implemented software solutions as well as the software supplier, the study revealed.

According to the study, especially a limited understanding between process– and IT–specialists causes problems with process IT: 91 percent believe this factor to be the main stumbling block when implementing BPM solutions. Other major difficulties are experienced with product complexity, expensive system adjustments or time intensive transition periods.

Also the low acceptance of complex BP–solutions with the employees contributes to the difficulties:Only six percent of the questioned companies believe that their employees accept the software very well. A small majority of 52 percent describes the acceptance less enthusiastic as "well".
