According to actual surveys the flow of venture capital into biotech companies has nearly doubled since last year. The Bio@venture Conference 2011 will try to boost this trend with its concept of bringing together capital and ideas.

Riding on the momentum of biotechnology, the 2011 Bio@venture Conference will be part of the BIOTECHNICA trade show on 11 October of this year. This will be the third time that companies seeking capital to finance innovation will have the chance to interact with potential investors. The presenting companies come from the life sciences industry and health care.

Companies presenting their business ideas

This year, the organizers expect around 60 participants. The number and variety of investors at the last two Bio@venture Conferences was extraordinary for Northern Germany. They ranged from business angels to banks to investment firms focused on financing life science businesses.

Presenting companies can also participate free of charge in BioBusinessMatching 2011, a collaboration matching event where they'll be able to network with decision-makers from the life sciences industry.

The organizers of the 2011 Bio@venture Conference, along with NBank are the Niedersachsen state healthcare and life sciences initiative BioRegioN and Deutsche Messe, with additional support from BioCon Valley, BIO Deutschland, BioPark Regensburg, Bioventure Consulting, the German business angels network, High-Tech Gründerfonds, the Niedersachsen Innovation Center, NGlobal, Norgenta, Projektträger Jülich and US-based firm TCG.
