Divestment at Chemical Group Bayer to sell Environmental Science Business Division
Bayer is accelerating the implementation of its strategy in the Crop Science division with a series of measures and personnel decisions. In order to focus on its core business in agriculture, the Environmental Science business unit for professional customers is to be divested.

Monheim/Germany — To drive performance and growth in the commercially most important region for the division, Dr. Jacqueline M. Applegate has been appointed head of the North America region for Crop Science, effective March 1, 2021. She currently leads the Environmental Science and Vegetable Seeds businesses and has extensive experience, both commercially and in managing transformations. Further, the company has appointed Crop Science's current head of crop biotechnology, Dr. Jeremy Williams, as the new head of Climate Corporation and Digital Farmings. Tom Armitage of Mondelez will take over global communications at Crop Science. Both will take up their new positions on March 15, 2021. All three will be part of Crop Science's Executive Leadership Team, contributing significantly to the division's accelerated transformation.
In addition, Gilles Galliou, currently Commercial Head for the Vegetable Seeds business in the Americas, will take over Environmental Science. This includes responsibility for the planned divestment. Environmental Science will be headquartered in Cary, North Carolina, USA, from June 1, 2021. Inci Dannenberg, currently Head of Strategic Marketing in Vegetable Seeds, has been appointed to lead the global Vegetable Seeds business, which is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Both appointments will be effective March 1, 2021.
With the announced portfolio and leadership team changes, as well as new product registrations for soybeans, corn and cotton in the Americas, Bayer is now shifting gears from integration to growth acceleration, according to Board Member and and Head of the Crop Science Division, Liam Condo.
