The Chemical Activity Barometer (Cab) rose 2.7 % in July on a three-month moving average basis following a 0.1 % gain in June, according to the American Chemistry Council. It further adds that on a year-over-year basis, the barometer fell 8.9 % in July.

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) provides an interim update on the chemical industry amidst the global pandemic of Covid-19. ACC forecasts that U.S. chemical volumes are expected to fall 3.3 % in 2020 before rising 5.2 % in 2021. Also, global GDP is expected to contract by 2.5 % in 2020 before rebounding 6.0 % in 2021.
According to a report by the American Chemistry Council, the U.S. Chemical Production Regional Index edged higher by 0.1 per cent at the beginning of the year. On a 3MMA basis, manufacturing activity rose by 0.3 per cent in January, added the report.
The American Chemistry Council (ACC) has stated that the Chemical Activity Barometer was stable in November (3MMA) post a 0.3 per cent decline in October. Also, the barometer on a year-over-year basis was 0.2 per cent (3MMA).
The U.S. Chemical Production Regional Index increased by 0.2 per cent in October however chemical output increased at a slower pace throughout the country. On a production 3MMA basis, there were gains in the output trend in plastic resins, chlor-alkali, pesticides, organic chemicals, consumer products, and so on.
