Phosphate Algeria to Build Large Scale Phosphate Plant

Algeria's government plans a new 2 billion US dollar phosphate conversion plant through its state-owned oil and petrochemicals firm Sonatrach with an annual production capacity of five million tons.

El Aouinet/Algeria – According to local media, an international bidding for the project could be opened in September 2012. Construction works are expected to begin this year so that a full operational status could be achieved by 2015. Industry insiders estimate that the Algerian province Tebessa has phosphate reserves of about 2.2 billion tons.
