Speciality chemicals producer Albemarle announced that it is the primary hydroprocessing catalyst manufacturer for the Dupont Iso Therming hydroprocessing technology.

Charlotte/USA — The companies announced their exclusive collaboration in licensing the Iso Therming hydroprocessing technology and providing aftermarket products and services. Eli Ben-Shoshan, Global Business Leader, Dupont Clean Technologies, said that Albemarle was a trusted catalyst manufacturer in the industry which is why they pursued a partnership with them. Together, they offered the global refining and mid-stream industries unique solutions for hydrotreating and mild hydrocracking.

Albemarle Corporation, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, is a global specialty chemicals company with leading positions in lithium, bromine and refining catalysts.

The Iso Therming Hydroprocessing Technology was developed and commercialized in 2003 by Process Dynamics, Inc. The process was acquired by DuPont in 2007. The key feature of the process is introducing the hydrogen gas to the reactor dissolved in the feedstock instead of the conventional two-phase gas-liquid flow.
