Still most bio process synthesis relies on experience and trial and error now a new methodic approach shows sustainable alternatives, as Katrin Sulzbacher of TU Dortmund explained at this year's PMA. The call for sustainable processes has triggered research activities all over the industry, to find measures for the xpression of economonic, ecoogic and social performance of a production process.
Katrin Sulzbacher of TU Dortmiund explains how her universitaryresearch group has developed a tool for (bio-)process synthesis procedures that allows the evaluation of alternative reactions and treatments, especially in the downstream phase.
At PMA 2012, she explains about the challenges and developments in bio process synthesis and shows how the proper selection of tools can help also inexperienced engineers to develop economic sound and sustainable processes.
