This publication is the first of a series of annual reference works covering drugs that have received regulatory approval during the previous year. This first volume, New Drugs 2001, contains descriptions of the more than 100 new drugs from 30 therapeutic categories that have been approved (or approved for major new uses) in the last several years.
A brief introduction to each class of drugs provides highlights of recent advances in drug development and marketing for the corresponding
disease category. The chemical, physical and pharmacological properties of each agent are recorded along with the chemical structure, registry
numbers and an exhaustive listing of product trade names and manufacturers. Each record includes patent information and a history of the agent's regulatory approval. A comprehensive Subject and Synonym Index along with
CAS Registry Number and EINECS Number indexes provide entry points to the data. An extensive Manufacturer Directory provides contact information.
