BASF Modernizes its Emissions Catalyst Production Operation in Nienburg

BASF invests to further expand and modernize its emissions catalysts production facility in Nienburg, Germany. The company is allocating a double-digit million euro sum to increase capacity and keep pace with increasing demand for innovative and cost-effective vehicles with gasoline and diesel engines.

Nienburg/Germany – The global Catalysts division of BASF invests a double-digit million euro in the emission catalysts production facility in Nienburg.

The main part of the investment relates to expanding production lines for catalytic particle filters (Catalyzed Soot Filter, CSF) and SCR catalysts (Selective Catalytic Reduction) for diesel engines. State-of-the-art systems for coating and drying the catalysts will also be procured, while a new warehouse facility will be built to increase the plant’s on-site storage.

“Nienburg has reliably delivered emissions control systems and components to customers for years. With the ongoing success of our Euro VI emissions control technologies, it was necessary to invest significantly to meet our customers’ demand and to satisfy their current and future needs,” says Xavier Susterac, Vice President, Mobile Emissions Catalysts at BASF. And Site Director Martin Kraum adds: „This expansion project is an investment in the future of the plant and an affirmation of our commitment to the Nienburg site and the region.“
