Public fire brigades, police forces or paramedics in Germany and Austria now access the proven TUIS database for the handling of hazardous goods in case of accidents online. Local authorities can also contact the nearest company fire brigade trained for chemical accidents on the web.
Frankfurt/Germany – The proven TUIS database goes online: Now local authorities or emergency response crews can access the TUIS (Transport–Unfall–Informations- und Hilfleistungssystem, transport accident information and support system) online at www.tuis.org. There they can not only contact the nearest professionally trained private company fire brigade in Germany or Austria, but also download the Cefic Emergency Response Intervention Cards (ERICards or ERIC's), which provide guidance on initial actions for fire crews when they first arrive at the scene of a chemical transport accident without having appropriate and reliable product specific emergency information at hand (ERICards are available in 16 languages, including five East Asian Languages).
A separate section offers the possibility to train online in a virtual reality environment. For this purpose, straining scenarios were developed by TUIS experts in close co–operation with firefighting schools.
