Reliance Industries has appointed Texan based Fluor with project management services at its its world scale Jamnagar refining and petrochemical complex in Western India, wehere the company plans one of the largest coke gasification facilities worldwide.
Mumbai/India – Fluor's scope includes the project management for several world-scale petroleum coke gasification units, refinery off-gas crackers and downstream petrochemical plants, a captive power plant but also additional utilities and offsite installations, company speakers confirmed. The completed gasification project will gasify petroleum coke to produce fuel and hydrogen for the expanded refinery and petrochemical complexes and captive power plant as well as feedstock for future chemicals production.

Jamnagar, nicknamed the "Oil City of India" is of major importance for the country's oil and petrochemical industry. There, Reliance not only operates the world's largest oil refinery but also several petrochemical assets. Only recently, the company joined forces with Russian Sibur to build the world's fourth biggest butyl rubber production at Jamnagar.
