Speciality chemical company Perstorp plans to expand onto the 1,6-hexanediol market: The company has successfully entered the production of this key building block in industrial scales, speakers explained.
“We aim to help support this growth and broaden our platform, to better serve our customers in Europe,” says Mårten Olausson, Perstorp's Business Unit Manager for Caprolactones. “The product represents an ideal complement to our already wide portfolio for resin production.” 1,6-hexanediol is used as basic building blocks in applications such as coatings, sealants, polyurethane elastomers and printing inks.
The successful production start–up is the result of several years of technology development, Perstorp told the press. The company now expects to profit from an increasing demand from the industry: “As a leading supplier to the polyurethanes and coatings industries, we are pleased to now support our customers going forward with substantial capacities of 1,6-hexanediol,” Olausson concludes.
