For its new brownfield ammonia plant, JAL decided to employ Texan engineering company KBR, making use of the company's proprietary Purifier ammonia technology.
Houston/Texas; Kanpur/India – KBR has announced the granting of a contract covering license and engineering design services by Jaiprakash Associates (JAL) of Jaypee Group for a new 2,000 tons/year ammonia plant in Indian Kanpur. The plant will use KBR's proprietary Purifier technology – which is characterised by its low energy consumption and capital costs – to produce ammonia for fertilizers. The facilities will be set up at an existing JAL site in Kanpur.
“KBR is pleased to support the Jaypee Group’s expansion into the fertilizer market,” said John Derbyshire, President, Technology. “I am confident that KBR’s Purifier technology will set the foundation for an extremely reliable, robust, low-energy facility to help our client to successfully enter the industry.” Only recently, the Texan engineering specialists performed a revamp study for JAL ammonia plants in India.
