New shell plant comes on stream on Jurong Island

Shell has inaugurated a new mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) plant on Singapore’s Jurong Island. With a nameplate capacity of 750,000 tonnes of MEG per annum, the unit is one of the largest MEG plants in the world, the company claims. To produce MEG from ethylene Shell is using its Omega processing technology, which offers lower production and operating costs than a traditional MEG plant. The new facility is a key component of the Shell Eastern Petrochemicals Complex.
