E+H expands production in China

Suzhou/PR China, Reinach/Switzerland – Flowmeter manufacturer Endress+Hauser Flowtec has expanded capacity at its plant in Suzhou, near Shanghai, China, with an investment of CHF 17 million. The company says strong growth in the water and wastewater sector over the past six years has increased demand for its electromagnetic flowmeters. Work on the new building began in September 2006 and was completed a year later. Setting up all the equipment and the new calibration rig took another 18 months. The new building increases the usable space fourfold, from 2,500 m2 to over 10,000 m2. The expansion will allow more flowmeter parts, including the large, heavy measuring tubes, to be manufactured on site instead of being imported from Europe. The plant also has a new calibration rig capable of handling very large flowmeters, with a maximum measurement uncertainty of ±0.05%. The new plant was officially opened at the end of March. “This will mean we will be able to respond to our customers’ requirements with even more speed and flexibility,” said Gerhard Jost, Managing Director of E+H Flowtec.
