Chemical business confidence falls below long-term average

According to CEFIC’s (the European Chemical Industry Council) “Chemicals Trends Report” from March 2008, in February 2008 chemical industry business confidence deteriorated sharply, reversing the upwards trend of the last month. Managers in the chemical industry are relatively pessimistic regarding their product expectations for the coming months and confidence is slightly below the long-term average. Confidence in manufacturing is also deteriorating, but not as sharply as for chemicals and remains above the long-term average. Chemical businesses are only slightly positive about current production and production expectations.kem
