Compressors for the Zhenhai Ethylene Project

Ningbo/PR China – Burckhardt Compression has been awarded with an order from China Petrochemical International to deliver two labyrinth piston compressors for the polyethylene (PE) and the ethylene oxide/glycol (EO/EG) plant that is part of the integrated project of Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company at Ningbo/PR China. The Laby compressor has a labyrinth sealing system on piston and piston rod gland that allows oil-free and contact-free compression. Therefore it is insensitive to contaminated gases and the ideal solution for PE and EO/EG applications. Delivery of the two compressors will take place in the beginning of 2009. They will be installed in the new one million tons-per-year ethylene complex for a 450,000 tons-per-year PE unit and a 100,000/650,000 tons-per-year EO/EG unit. The project is scheduled to be completed in late 2009.
