New research and scale-up Centre in Basel

Roche Vitamins has invested in new research and scale-up facilities in the field of biotechnology. These facilities are located in the region of Basel (Switzerland) and form the Division's Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology. For Dr Luis Pasamontes, Head of Biotechnology R&D, spoke about the tremendous opportunities of biotechnology.

PharmaTEC: What is the rationale behind the creation and development of the Biotech Research Center?

Pasamontes: It is a logical extension of our technology platform to manufacture competitive products for our customers. This is achieved either through production process improvements or through the discovery of new bioactive substances and the development of new ingredients, for human and animal use. We must continue to develop as an organization, and biotechnology presents us with tremendous opportunities to achieve this.
