NNE has finished the largest insulin factory in the world

For NNE, the Insulin Bulk Plant (IBP) for Novo Nordisk has been the largest project carried out to date. The mandate was to build a "superhighway" for producing two different insulin products - from fermentation to purified insulin crystals. In addition to the enormous building and extensive processing equipment, the project included all auxiliary facilities, an advanced management system, maintenance workshops and laboratories to enable the factory to operate as an independent entity.
Novo Nordisk invested 300 million Euro in a new insulin factory. The sod was cut on 30 June 2000, and exactly two years later at an opening ceremony, the company pushed a button to start pumping fermentation liquid into the first partial plant that had been delivered and was ready for use. In the course of the next nine months, the other five partial plants followed suit, and the final handing over of the finished factory complex took place at the beginning of April 2003.
