An easy way to empty containers
A broad product range guarantees top system performance

If you want to keep up with the competition, you have to be sure that your production operations are efficient. This can often mean switching from drum storage to containers, a move that places different demands on your pumping equipment. Lutz offers mobile and stationary pumping system solutions that can be adapted to suit a variety of requirements and media. Sets which include the pump, hose and nozzle (and a flow meter on request) are available for use in applications where only small volumes have to be extracted from a container. The sets are designed for fast, efficient filling through the dome cover with minimal handling effort. The sealless drums pumps are the key components in the sets. The pumps are securely attached to the cover of the drum with the aid of an emission protection adapter. The pumps are light-weight, handy and ease to maintain, and they are available in a variety of materials. Eccentric screw pumps are the solution of choice for applications where the viscosity of the medium exceeds 500 mPas. The pumps deliver between 12 and 120 l/min depending on the model, and all standard materials can be supplied.

Special container pumps for
delivering large volumes
Special pump solutions are needed when large volumes have to be emptied from containers. The situation becomes more difficult when high-density media are involved. A decision has to be made whether to empty the container from the top or through the bottom drain. When handling a medium that poses an environmental risk, using a vertical pump to empty the container through the dome cover is clearly the safest solution. Lutz offers a pump which has been designed to deliver top performance in this application. Low speed, very quiet operation and carefully selected materials guarantee that these pumps deliver long service life and high efficiency. Double diaphragm pumps offer an alternative method of emptying containers.
These pumps are dry-running, oil-free and self priming, and they can be used in stationary or mobile applications. They are suitable for nearly any fluid, and they also deliver difficult media gently and safely. Available materials include PP, PVDF, nylon, aluminum and stainless steel. The medium can be emptied through the top cover or the bottom drain, and flow rates can be measured. A pulse generator on the pump's control piston tracks the number of strokes. Using the chamber volume of the pump and the number of strokes, the flow rate can be measured, and it is easy to calculate the flow volume.

Mobile or stationary: centrifugal pumps
The Lutz range also includes horizontal, self-priming centrifugal pumps that can be mounded on a chassis as an option. This type of pump uses a mechanical seal and was designed specially for transferring chemicals from containers and open tanks and for draining baths. Horizontal centrifugal pumps with magnetic drive are suitable for dry running and can be used in mobile applications. The units, which are made of PP or ECTFE, will work in harsh conditions and are fitted with an induction three-phase motor. These centrifugal pumps are suitable for dry running thanks to a special magnet configuration.

Summary: no matter which system a user selects, he is guaranteed to get fast, clean operation. A wide range of accessories is available for all the pumps described in this article.
