Fike Europe has expanded its Axius line of bursting discs to include the Axius SC, specifically designed for the sanitary and aseptic requirements of the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. Free of any indentations or crevices that can trap process contaminants, the Axius SC is designed for most CIP/SIP applications. The Axius line of reverse-acting bursting discs is the first of its kind to be manufactured without hard tooling, Fike claims, to create the lines along which the disc ruptures. Using a built-in line of weakness rather than a scored line allows the process side of the disc to remain completely smooth, and avoids stress concentrations that can lead to premature failure. The Axius SC bursting disc offers tight tolerance on burst pressure, superior ability to resist pressure cycling, and rated working pressures up to 95 per cent of the burst pressure.
