Springs reinforce PTFE seals

Millipore has introduced a novel spring-assisted sealing arrangement for its versatile NovAseptic PTFE diaphragm valves. The outstanding thermal and chemical durability of PTFE are useful in demanding multi-product processes, but unlike elastomers, PTFE tends to creep when subjected to a steady force. The new Spring Closed Valve Seal for PTFE diaphragms uses a patent-pending cup spring to apply a constant pressure across the diaphragm seat, prolonging valve life and reducing maintenance requirements. Millipore’s NovAseptic valves are available in sizes of 0.5–3 in. Their aseptic design eliminates dead legs and minimizes product holdup, and they are easily cleaned and sterilized in place (CIP/SIP).
